Anganwadi Program

Providing pre-primary educational support to children

Anganwadis were established by the Indian government in 1975 to provide basic support to rural children and families in need of essential care. However, most of these anganwadis were in a dilapidated condition and were not fulfilling their goal.

As Parle Agro’s CSR arm, the PJC Foundation intervened and decided to revive anganwadis across the country to create a thriving environment for rural communities.

The PJC Foundation has successfully revitalized anganwadis across five states in India: Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Andhra Pradesh. Through sustainable efforts, the foundation has created safe environments for rural children and significantly improved the conditions of dilapidated anganwadis. Till date around 35 tons of recycled plastic material have been used for building materials and outdoor play equipment along with 300+ up-cycled tyres. Since the program’s launch in 2020, the PJC Foundation has successfully revived 120 anganwadis, and it remains committed to its mission of building thriving spaces for rural populations throughout India.
