CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE: SHRI PRAKASH JAYANTILAL CHAUHAN

Parle Agro is one of the largest Indian Beverage Companies. While this is an achievement, it is the result of all hard-work put in by the employees who are currently working with as well as have worked with us in the past. With the Prakash Jayantilal Chauhan Foundation, we aim to address some of the multifaceted challenges. Our endeavor is to create an integrated approach model in the true Parle Agro spirit of maximizing societal values.

DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE: Ms. ALISHA CHAUHAN

At the Prakash Jayantilal Chauhan Foundation, we aim to enhance the quality of life of communities in which we operate. We take pride in selecting projects with utmost care & working in areas of education, healthcare & environmental sustainability.

How it started and how it’s going ?

For the Anganwadi program –
While working closely with farmers for procurement of raw materials for Parle Agro, a specific problem faced by them was brought forward to the foundation. Mothers, female farmers and other labourers with children between 0-6 years of age did not have a safe place to keep the children while they continued working in the fields. Prakash Jayantilal Chauhan Foundation decided to work towards finding solutions that could ensure safe spaces for children to thrive in.
While anganwadis seemed like a solution to address the problem, several anganwadis were in a dilapidated state and their conditions were not suitable for these families. To create a thriving environment, PJC Foundation started reviving anganwadis in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu and Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Realizing the impact it was creating within these two states, PJC Foundation decided to take it nationwide.

Currently, PJC Foundation works with 98 anganwadis across Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand. The foundation plans to similarly strengthen over 200  anganwadis  over the course of next 5 years

  • Children Benefited Through PJC Foundation Anganwadi Outreach Programs – 6016
  • Adolescent Girls- 3286
  • Pregnant Women- 877
  • Lactating women-  717

Aganwadis that have been  strengthened have seen a rise in an aspirational generation of children,  an increase in their knowledge around nutrition, health, hygiene and safety for young adults and women while also seeing an increase in footfall of children who are engaged through creative and foundational early education tools.

For the skilling program –

One of the key discoveries made during the need assessment exercise was the gap between education and job ready skills. While many urban youth from challenging economic backgrounds had acquired basic education, they lacked the skills that make them employable, thus creating a significant gap between their existing skill sets and the skills required to make them job-ready.

To tackle this challenge, PJC Foundation built a model skill centre in Mumbai, focused on empowering individuals who are looking to skill, reskill or upskill themselves by providing them with the opportunity to not only acquire real world, employable skills that are relevant today but also provide a safe space for them to learn and aspire for a better life unhindered by the challenges of their circumstances. This modern infrastructure currently houses over 100 students across five different skilling courses that are most relevant to the job markets of today.

The skill centre currently imparts skills for –– hair, beauty, IT, retail and electronics.

  • The entire operational cost is taken care by the foundation except for the initial registration fee of Rs. 2500 which is 10X lesser than what is provided in skilling courses in comparison.
  • With an opportunity to earn salaries upto INR Rs.30,000 per month, our courses are designed in a way that students pay 10 X less and earn 10 X more
  • The students graduating from the skill centre have not only picked up valuable employment-oriented skills but have also get assured placement opportunities with companies like Kaya, Urban Clap, Lakme, Reliance Smart Bazar, Aqua Clean Services, Aqua Tech Service, Call 2 Connect, Money Mantra, among others
  • Total earning Candidates – 314 we achieve 95% self-reliance rate
  • Total salary drawn by  students cumulatively in the month of December’22–Rs. 40L
